The Journey of Reunion-An adoptee's story

I am a 25 year old adoptee in reunion with my birth parents for less than a year. I focus on the reunion itself, the feelings that it has caused, and a look at the highs, lows and in between!

Other issues

Thanks everyone for your comments! My boyfriend of 4 years just broke up with me, and I can't even begin to tackle my issues with my birthparents now. I need to focus on one thing at a time. I'm not sure when I'll be back. Thanks for your support

I'm so sorry - it's hard no matter what the circumstances. Did it have anything to do with your emotions about your birthparents? I wonder if some men can handle all that goes along with the experiences of an adoptee.....I pray that it gets easier for you......

Hi Stacie from Jody, adoptee.I am now 51 but my adoption issues were triggered when I experienced new losses in life. My first challenge was similar to yours, my long term boyfriend breaking up with me. I wrote a neat article on Older Adoption website about my journey through grief and loss to help other younger adoptees be encouraged and recognize the unresolved grief issues that may lie dormant and be triggered by other losses or separations in their lives.

Thank you for your support. The good thing is that he is not abandoning me. He wants to be there for me. I was ready to get married and he was not ready for that.
